I have a domain lets call it http://site.com I want two wordpress blogs and I am hosting them on my own server. Which option is better.

site.com/portfolio/
site.com/blog/

or

portfolio.site.com/
blog.site.com/

technically I can do both quite easily I just want to know which is better for SEO and permalinks.

I have multiple Yahoo domains registered. I am in China on a 2-year assignment. When I return to the U.S. in a few months, I want to open a consulting business that will include Asia customers. A multiple domain question:

If a search query returns multiple results from the same domain, how can we restrict showing only two or three results from the same domain. We considered using domain ID’s and tying them to our document ID’s, but believe that our index would be significantly larger and the process slower.

If linking domain ID to a document ID in the index would slow the process down too much, can you think of any other way to present a search so that the pages from the same domain is presented only a maximum of 3 times on a search query. Can this be done in the search algorithm stage without domain IDs?

I have a small business site that deals with design, that has only the company’s name in the domain name.

A business colleague suggested that I go and purchase a bunch of domains that has to do with my industry. For example, I should purchase "BestDesignNYC.com" and "YourGraphicDesignerNY.com" and the likes. I should point these domains to my primary business site with domain forwarding.

He said having these domains would make my business rank higher in Google searches.

Does that actually work??

1. If I buy a domain with company A and Host it with Company B how do i transfer the domain or prove Im the owner? Is it better to do both with the same company?
2.I understand Domain is a one time charge( or so i believe); What about Hosting, do we have "One time Fee", "Life time Hosters"
